Many years ago, I began my personal self-development journey to figure out who I was and what I wanted to be known for. Over time I did what many people do. You begin to morph into what other people see and want for your life. You begin to fear disappointing people in your life, but in the end, you are really just disappointing yourself because you aren’t truly happy.
In my situation, I was a single thirty-year-old who didn’t like the trajectory of my life. I had achieved great things, yet I still felt hollow inside. I had dreams of being married, having a family and a great career and nothing I did seemed to work to make those dreams a reality.
I just didn’t like who I had become and I realized it was time for a change.
I first had to go on a journey to figure out who I was and what I really wanted in life. I didn’t know what my dream was versus those dreams of my family and friends anymore. I needed to figure out why I didn’t feel happy and why I felt incomplete, despite all the blessings I had in my life.
Ultimately, I had to figure out what actions I could and should take to make a change in my life.
You see there are many things in our lives that we can’t control, yet there are many things that we can. I had to pipe into the ones that I could control and stop spending so much time on the ones I couldn’t. I ultimately was able to develop and follow my roadmap to becoming the person I wanted to be.
This allowed me to meet and exceed the goals and dreams I had for my life. Now, some things shifted from their original goal, but now I was truly living for me and ultimately filling my happiness bucket.
